ScanForAI MCP server

MCP serverDev tools

Score text 0-100 for signs of AI writing, with plain reasons; strip machine typography.

Then ask your AI: use ScanForAI MCP server to scan text

Details

Available today. Use it as a step in a pipeline you build, or from your connected AI.

Add it as a step in a pipeline you build on Ahel, or connect Ahel to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code or Codex and ask your AI to use it.

Install ScanForAI MCP server

The server’s own address, for the clients that take one directly. Or connect Ahel once and every client you use reads it from one address, with the account kept on Ahel rather than in each client’s config.

  • Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user scanforai-mcp-server 'https://api.scanforai.com/api/mcp'

Run it once in your project, then open /mcp to approve any sign-in the server asks for.

  • Claude Desktop

    https://api.scanforai.com/api/mcp

Add a custom connector in Settings, paste this address, and approve the sign-in.

  • Cursor

    cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=scanforai-mcp-server&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL2FwaS5zY2FuZm9yYWkuY29tL2FwaS9tY3AifQ==

Open the link and Cursor adds the server at that address.

  • ChatGPT

    https://api.scanforai.com/api/mcp

In Settings, enable Developer mode, create an MCP app, and paste this address. Your plan and workspace must allow custom apps.

  • Codex

codex mcp add scanforai-mcp-server --url 'https://api.scanforai.com/api/mcp'

Run it once, then sign in with codex mcp login scanforai-mcp-server if the server asks for an account.

From the project's README

As published by znxltd/scanforai-mcp in README.md.

ScanForAI checks a text for signs of AI writing and explains what it found, in plain words. This is its MCP server: any MCP-capable assistant (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, and others) can call it directly.

A score is a signal, never a verdict. Scores estimate how strongly a text shows measurable machine-writing patterns and can be wrong in both directions. Never use a score alone to accuse a person.

Add it

  1. Create a free account at https://app.scanforai.com/register?src=mcp and make an API key on the API keys page (it starts with at_sk_).

  2. Add the server:

claude mcp add --transport http scanforai https://api.scanforai.com/api/mcp \
        --header "Authorization: Bearer at_sk_..."

Other clients: add the same URL as a remote (streamable HTTP) MCP server and set the Authorization header to Bearer at_sk_... wherever the client configures headers.

Texts you scan through your key are saved to your ScanForAI history, like any API scan, and you can delete your account at any time.

Tools

toolwhat it does
scan_textScores a text 0-100 for signs of AI/machine writing, with the band (low, moderate, elevated, high) and plain-English reasons. deep: true asks for the most thorough read (slower, quota-limited). lang chooses the language the reasons are written in (for example es). Texts in a language the scanner cannot read yet get no score, and the answer says so.
cleanup_textStrips machine typography from a text without rewriting a word: smart quotes, em dashes and the rare glyphs AI models overuse become plain keyboard characters.

Every call counts against your plan like a call to the REST API. A new account has a smaller deep-read quota until its email is verified and its first month has passed.

Where things are

This repository holds the registry listing (server.json) and this page. The server itself is part of the ScanForAI service and is not open source.
