validator

MCP serverDev tools

The validator is an MCP server that checks oh-my-posh configurations and segment snippets against the official schema. It gives an agent a way to confirm that a prompt config is well-formed before it is applied. The server reports schema violations so the person can fix them.

What your AI can do with it

  • Validate a full oh-my-posh configuration against the official schema
  • Validate individual segment snippets against the official schema
  • Report schema violations found in a configuration
  • Check prompt configs before they are applied

Getting started

  1. Have an MCP client that can connect to MCP servers.
  2. Add the validator MCP server to the client's server configuration.
  3. Provide the oh-my-posh configuration or segment snippet to validate.
  4. Read the reported schema violations and correct the configuration.

Install validator

The server’s own address, for the clients that take one directly. Or connect Ahel once and every client you use reads it from one address, with the account kept on Ahel rather than in each client’s config.

  • Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user validator 'https://ohmyposh.dev/api/mcp'

Run it once in your project, then open /mcp to approve any sign-in the server asks for.

  • Claude Desktop

    https://ohmyposh.dev/api/mcp

Add a custom connector in Settings, paste this address, and approve the sign-in.

  • Cursor

    cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=validator&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL29obXlwb3NoLmRldi9hcGkvbWNwIn0=

Open the link and Cursor adds the server at that address.

  • ChatGPT

    https://ohmyposh.dev/api/mcp

In Settings, enable Developer mode, create an MCP app, and paste this address. Your plan and workspace must allow custom apps.

  • Codex

codex mcp add validator --url 'https://ohmyposh.dev/api/mcp'

Run it once, then sign in with codex mcp login validator if the server asks for an account.
