disaster-recovery-planner
SkillDev toolsThis pack lets your AI plan disaster recovery procedures for your systems and then help put those procedures in place. Once it is added, your AI can work out how your systems should recover when something goes wrong. It is useful when you want a recovery plan ready before a failure happens.

Details
Instructions available. Your AI can read the instructions. Execution depends on the setup they require.
Account requirements not reviewed. Check the skill instructions before use; Ahel provides instructions and does not run this skill.
No other account needed.
After adding it, tell your AI which systems you want covered and ask it to plan their disaster recovery procedures. When the plan is ready, ask your AI to help implement those procedures.
What your AI can do with it
- Plan disaster recovery procedures for your systems
- Draft recovery plans ahead of a failure
- Implement the disaster recovery procedures it plans
What this skill tells your AI
The instructions your AI receives, as published by codebygarv/ai-skills in skills/architecture/disaster-recovery-planner/SKILL.md and read by Ahel’s review.
Purpose
Formulate enterprise Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity plans, defining Recovery Time Objectives (RTO), Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), multi-region replication, and automated split-brain prevention.
When to Use
- Preparing architecture for SOC 2, ISO 27001, or enterprise compliance audits.
- Designing active-passive (pilot light / warm standby) or active-active multi-region systems.
- Establishing automated database backup verification and restore drills.
What to Analyze
- RTO & RPO Definitions: Acceptable data loss in time (RPO) and acceptable downtime duration (RTO) per tier.
- Topology Strategy: Backup & Restore vs Pilot Light vs Warm Standby vs Active-Active Multi-Region.
- Data Replication: Asynchronous vs synchronous replication lag, cross-region replication (CRR), WAL archiving.
- DNS & Traffic Routing: Route 53 / Cloudflare health check failover policies with low TTLs.
- Split-Brain Prevention & Quorum: Fencing tokens and automated tie-breakers during network partition.
Output Format
- DR Strategy Classification Table: Tiers (Tier 0 to Tier 3), RTO, RPO, and Topology.
- Failover & Failback Sequence: Step-by-step failover execution checklist.
- Backup Verification Automation: Scheduled test restoration script.
Avoid
- Untested backups (an untested backup is not a backup).
- Manual multi-hour DNS switchover processes with high TTLs.
