VS Code Extension

Installation

  1. Open VS Code Extensions (Ctrl+Shift+X / Cmd+Shift+X)
  2. Search for "Claude Code"
  3. Install the official Anthropic extension
  4. Or: code --install-extension anthropic.claude-code

Vim/Neovim Integration

Claude Code can be used alongside Vim/Neovim via terminal split:

Troubleshooting IDE Issues

VS Code Extension Not Loading

  1. Check VS Code version (requires 1.80+)
  2. Ensure Claude Code CLI is installed globally
  3. Check Output panel → "Claude Code" channel for errors
  4. Restart VS Code

Terminal Not Rendering Properly

  1. Ensure terminal supports Unicode
  2. Check TERM environment variable
  3. Try export TERM=xterm-256color
  4. Increase terminal font size

Permission Issues in IDE

  1. Check .claude/settings.json permissions config
  2. Ensure IDE terminal has access to shell profile
  3. Check proxy settings if behind firewall
