Then ask your AI: use the Memories skill
What this skill tells your AI
The instructions your AI receives, as published by mweinbach/agent-coworker in skills/memories/SKILL.md and read by ahel’s review.
Use this skill for explicit memory-management requests. The goal is to keep long-term memory accurate without touching unrelated folders or inventing duplicate entries.
Use the conversation to resolve routine details and carry out the requested management action without asking for the same authorization again. Ask only when the intended memory or change remains materially ambiguous after inspection. User instructions override skill defaults within higher-priority instructions and enforced tool boundaries. If a tool limitation or an applicable rule blocks the request, identify it precisely; quote and name this SKILL.md when the rule comes from this skill. Report the result briefly.
Workflow
- Start with
manageMemoryactionlistto see the active folder, readable folders, paths, and summaries. - Use
manageMemoryactionreadbefore changing an existing memory. - Prefer
editwhen a relevant memory already exists. Usecreateonly for a genuinely new durable fact, preference, or project note. - Keep memory bodies concise and factual. Do not store secrets, credentials, transient status, or speculative conclusions.
- Use memory types consistently:
feedbackfor user preferences or corrections, projectfor workspace-specific implementation context, andnotefor durable general context. - After any unavoidable manual memory file repair, run
manageMemoryactionrefresh_index.
Boundaries
- Use
manageMemoryfor list/read/create/edit/refresh. Do not hand-write Markdown memory files when the tool is available. - Writes always go to the active memory folder for this chat or workspace.
(chats)may appear as shared readable context from project workspaces, but do not try to write to it unless it is the active folder.- Do not delete memories from this skill. Use the app or admin memory controls for deletion.
- If
manageMemoryis unavailable, advanced memory may be disabled. Use the legacymemorytool only when it is present.
