remotion-docs
SkillSearchThis is a skill that lets an AI agent search the Remotion documentation and read current pages while writing video code. It teaches the agent to query an Algolia search index for Remotion docs, then fetch matching pages as Markdown by adding .md to their URLs. The point is to build against the live documentation instead of relying on memorized API knowledge.
Then ask your AI: use the remotion-docs skill
Details
Instructions available. Your AI can read the instructions. Execution depends on the setup they require.
Account requirements not reviewed. Check the skill instructions before use; Ahel provides instructions and does not run this skill.
No other account needed.
Have an AI agent that can make HTTP requests and load skills.
What your AI can do with it
- Search Remotion documentation through the Algolia search API
- Retrieve up to 10 hits per query with hierarchy and url fields
- Fetch any Remotion docs page as Markdown by appending .md
- Return documentation URLs for concepts and APIs
- Guide implementation using current docs rather than memorized APIs
Getting started
- Have an AI agent that can make HTTP requests and load skills.
- Add the remotion-docs skill to the agent's available skills.
- Configure the agent to send POST requests to the Algolia search endpoint with the provided application ID and API key.
- Ask the agent to search for a Remotion concept or API, then fetch the chosen result URL with .md appended.
What this skill tells your AI
The instructions your AI receives, as published by remotion-dev/remotion in packages/codex-plugin/skills/remotion-docs/SKILL.md and read by Ahel’s review.
This skill teaches you how to discover and read current Remotion documentation. If this is not relevant, load Remotion Best Practices instead.
Searching the docs
Use the Algolia search API to find relevant documentation pages:
POST https://plsduol1ca-dsn.algolia.net/1/indexes/*/queries?x-algolia-api-key=3e42dbd4f895fe93ff5cf40d860c4a85&x-algolia-application-id=PLSDUOL1CA
Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded
{
"requests": [
{
"query": "<your search query>",
"indexName": "remotion",
"params": "attributesToRetrieve=[\"hierarchy.lvl0\",\"hierarchy.lvl1\",\"hierarchy.lvl2\",\"url\"]&hitsPerPage=10"
}
]
}
Each hit contains a url field pointing to the documentation page.
Fetching a page as Markdown
Append .md to any Remotion docs URL to retrieve its Markdown source (saves tokens):
https://www.remotion.dev/docs/use-video-config.md
https://www.remotion.dev/docs/sequence.md
https://www.remotion.dev/docs/lambda/rendermediaonlambda.md
Workflow
- Search Algolia for the concept or API you need.
- Pick the most relevant URL(s) from the results.
- Fetch each URL with the
.mdsuffix. - Implement using the current documentation rather than memorized API knowledge.

Questions
- How does the agent search the Remotion documentation?
- It sends a POST request to the Algolia search API with the query, index name remotion, and parameters to retrieve hierarchy fields and url, returning up to 10 hits.
- How does the agent read a documentation page?
- It appends .md to any Remotion docs URL and fetches that address to get the Markdown source, which saves tokens.
- What should the agent do if this skill is not relevant?
- Load the Remotion Best Practices skill instead.
- Does the skill replace memorized API knowledge?
- Yes. It directs the agent to implement using the current documentation rather than relying on memorized API knowledge.
