Web Search

SkillSearch

The websearch skill is a search tool for an AI agent. It sends one query to Google through the Serper API and returns titles, URLs, snippets, and knowledge-graph data. Setup needs a free Serper API key, which is pasted into the agent through the /mcp menu.

Then ask your AI: use the Web Search skill

Details

Instructions available. Your AI can read the instructions. Execution depends on the setup they require.

Get a free API key at https://serper.dev.

What your AI can do with it

  • Search Google through the Serper API with a single query
  • Return titles, URLs, and snippets for the query
  • Return knowledge-graph data alongside the results
  • Call the prepared websearch import directly in the Python kernel
  • Control the HTTP timeout with PRIME_AGENT_WEBSEARCH_TIMEOUT
  • Control the number of organic results with PRIME_AGENT_WEBSEARCH_NUM_RESULTS

Getting started

  1. Get a free API key at https://serper.dev.
  2. Open the /mcp menu in the agent and choose Serper (web search).
  3. Paste the API key when prompted; it is stored in the agent and made available to the skill automatically.
  4. Call the prepared websearch import in the Python kernel with a query string.

What this skill tells your AI

The instructions your AI receives, as published by primeintellect-ai/prime-agent in skills/websearch/SKILL.md and read by Ahel’s review.

Search the web via the Serper Google Search API.

Setup

Get a free API key at https://serper.dev, then run /mcp in Prime Agent and choose Serper (web search) to paste it. The key is stored in Prime Agent and made available to this skill automatically.

If web search reports a missing key, walk the user through those two steps; don't ask them to set environment variables.

Optional overrides (environment variables):

  • PRIME_AGENT_WEBSEARCH_TIMEOUT - HTTP timeout in seconds (default 45).
  • PRIME_AGENT_WEBSEARCH_NUM_RESULTS - number of organic results to return (default 5).

Usage

Call the prepared websearch import directly in the Python kernel:

print(await websearch("latest Prime Agent release"))

Run /mcp in the agent and choose Serper (web search), then paste your free Serper API key. The key is stored in the agent and made available to this skill automatically.
What does it return for a query?
It returns titles, URLs, snippets, and knowledge-graph data for the single query you pass in.
What if web search reports a missing key?
Walk through the two setup steps: get a free key at https://serper.dev, then run /mcp and choose Serper (web search) to paste it. Do not ask the user to set environment variables.
Can I change the timeout or the number of results?
Yes. Set PRIME_AGENT_WEBSEARCH_TIMEOUT for the HTTP timeout in seconds (default 45) and PRIME_AGENT_WEBSEARCH_NUM_RESULTS for the number of organic results (default 5).
